HUNTINGBURG ADVISORY -- SNOW EMERGENCIES 

            It is that time of year � snow season.  In order for city crews to quickly and efficiently clear the streets, certain streets have been designated �snow routes.�  If you live on one of these streets, please arrange to park your vehicle OFF of the street whenever it snows.  Because weather forecasting is less than perfect, it is possible that a snow emergency can be declared with little if any advance notice.  During clearing, city crews will push snow from the center of the street towards the sides.  Your driveway will have snow pushed onto it.  Although we understand the frustration this causes, it may be necessary for you to shovel it open again.  City crews cannot assist you in reopening your driveway.  Thank you for your understanding. 

            City Ordinance provides, �In the event a snow emergency is declared due to the accumulation of snow or ice upon the city streets, parking upon the segments of streets designated as a snow route shall automatically and immediately be restricted during the emergency.  Any vehicle found parked along any street closed along a snow route shall be subject to removal and impoundment, by the city, and the registered owner shall be held responsible for all costs incidental to the removal and storage of the vehicle.�
