Foundation Scholarships Larry Dugle Scholarship � In memory of the former Southwest School Corporation Superintendent, the scholarship is awarded annually to a graduate of Southridge High School interested in pursuing a college education. Amount of scholarship and number of scholarships awarded depending on investment earnings. A committee selected by Mr. Dugle�s family awards the scholarship, but the application should be returned to the Foundation office. Jason Feldmeyer Scholarship �Two scholarships are being offered in memory of Jason Feldmeyer a 2000 graduate of Southridge High School, as well as a member of that schools golf team who passed away during his freshmen year of college on September 25, 2000. One scholarship shall be given to a senior at Southridge, while the second scholarship shall be open to a graduating senior of any of the four Dubois County high schools, Jasper, Northeast Dubois, Forest Park, and Southridge, who is a member of that school�s golf team. Sarah Gobert Scholarship � In memory of Sarah Gobert, who died in October of 1998 at the age of 2 � after a 13-month battle with leukemia, the scholarship shall benefit students graduating from any of the four school districts of Dubois County who wish to pursue further education in a career in the medical profession. The first scholarship shall be awarded in 2004. Huntingburg Foundation Scholarship - Awarded annually to a graduate of Southridge High School interested in pursuing a college education Frosty and Muriel Jones Scholarship � This scholarship is awarded in memory of Frosty Jones a local son who pursued a career in aviation and is wife Muriel. The scholarship is awarded annually to a graduate of Southridge High School interested in pursuing a college degree in aviation or a related field of study. Reverend Ray Ley Scholarship Fund � Established by a local minister, this scholarship is awarded annually to a member of Salem United Church of Christ interested in pursuing a college education. The applicant of this scholarship should request an application from Salem Church and return the application to the church at the corner of Fourth and Walnut Streets. Irene Mendel Scholarship � Established by the estate of Irene Mendel this scholarship shall first be given to the Southridge High School graduating class of 2003. For three years, a $1,000 scholarship shall be given to either the Valedictorian or Solitarian of the class. For four years the Musical Department of Southridge shall choose a student who has participated in vocal or band to receive a $1,000 scholarship. Jeanette Rauscher/Southwest Dubois County Scholarship Fund - Awarded annually to a graduate of Southridge High School interested in pursuing a college education. The staff of Southridge High School awards this scholarship. Marian Klausmeier Roettger - Awarded annually to a graduating senior of Southridge High School interested in pursuing a college degree in business or accounting. The amount and number of scholarships to be awarded shall be at the discretion of the selection committee, but shall not be less than $1,000. The selection committee includes representatives from the School Corporation and Salem United Church of Christ. Owen Roettger Scholarship - Awarded annually to a graduating senior of Southridge High School interested in pursuing a college degree in music with a preference of voice over a musical instrument. The amount and number of scholarships to be awarded shall be at the discretion of the selection committee, but shall not be less than $1,000. The selection committee includes representatives from the School Corporation and Salem United Church of Christ. Marcia Scanlon Scholarship � In memory of a dedicated elementary school teacher in the Southwest School Corporation District, this scholarship is awarded annually to a graduate of Southridge High School interested in pursuing a college degree in education. Arnold Schwartz Scholarship - Awarded annually to a graduate of Southridge High School interested in pursuing a college degree in math, science, or engineering. Ruby and Dick Smith Scholarship � In memory of Ruby and Dick Smith, local business owners and avid high school sports fans, is to be awarded annually to a graduating senior of Southridge High School who plans on attending a college or technical school. Trent-Singer Scholarship This scholarship fund is established in memory of Gordon Singer, Jr. and Todd Trent, two young men who participated in high school athletics at Southridge High School who passed away in separate accidents within a few years of graduating from Southridge. The scholarship is to benefit students graduating from Southridge High School and who participated in high school athletics. Applications should be submitted to the Southridge Wrestling Coach and then forwarded onto the families of Gordon and Todd. Uebelhor Family Scholarship � In memory of a Walter Uebelhor, a local businessman and his daughter-in-law Mary Ann Uebelhor a dedicated elementary school teacher in the Southwest School Corporation District for 18 years, this scholarship is awarded annually to a graduate of Southridge High School interested in pursuing a college degree in elementary education. Note: If a scholarship is not given, it is at the discretion of the selection committee and dependent upon investment earnings. |
